London Calling!

I have an announcement that I’m excited to share with you today. Starting April of this year, I will officially move to London and will be based out of the AppNexus office there. I will continue as CTO, just from a new location. Europe is a hugely strategic market for us, and broad, international expansion is one of our core priorities, so I’m looking forward to working closely with the amazing team that we’ve built in Europe (starting with offices in London, Paris, and Hamburg) to achieve our goals.

This will also be a great opportunity for me to engage more deeply with our many significant clients and partners in Europe, including: Orange, Hi-media, InteractiveMedia (Deutsche Telekom), Bannerconnect, Schibsted, and others. We expect more than 40% of our revenue to come from markets outside of the U.S. by the end of 2013, and as that number continues to grow, my presence in Europe will be useful as we look to cultivate and expand our important relationships across that market.

Besides showing tremendous growth, we’re seeing the European market adopt new technologies and business models at a rate not seen in many other areas of the world. It’s for this reason that I’m very excited to move and spend more time not only in the UK, but also France, Germany, Holland, the Nordics, Southern Europe, and elsewhere. I’m also looking forward to working on a few very exciting product initiatives launching this year — you’ll find out more about those soon!

On a personal note, my move across the pond makes sense for me because both my wife and I are European — French and Dutch respectively — and we’ve been thinking about heading back for quite some time.

AppNexus is building a truly global company, and I’m thrilled to join the rapidly growing team in London as we continue to strengthen our foothold in and commitment to Europe. To all of our New York-based colleagues, clients, and partners: I’ll be back in town fairly frequently, so I’m sure I’ll see you soon!
